I worked a full career in the tech world. My first role was selling ADP payroll services in Newark, NJ and worked my way up to lead global revenue assurance for NCR (Hospitality). My craziest travel year had me home for only 42 days in a calendar year. I burned the candle at both ends for nearly 25 years, until there was no candle left to burn. Not only did my personal needs not matter, but I didn’t even know what they might be. Fast forward - I lost everything. Connection to my family (kids, divorce), my health, my lust for life, friends, everything. Towards the end, I woke up, showered, muscled through meetings, succeeded at my work goals, neglected everything else, and repeated the next day.
I got a bit too close to alcohol to numb the feeling that my life was in a downward spiral, even as I was excelling at my career. At the start of 2020, I flamed out. I had nothing left to give, no interest in finding another job, no interest in dating, nothing.
Then, I looked for help, anywhere I could find it. Retreats, reading, therapy, coaches, meditation. Through the next 2 years, I rebuilt myself, slowly and painfully. I rediscovered my connection to emotions, I knew what I wanted from life, and I knew how to get there.
